Terms of use

The rules for using this site — what you can expect from the academy, and what the academy expects from you.

Draft — pending legal review before launch

Who these terms are between

These terms are between you and the Cameroon Chess Academy. By using the site you accept them. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian accepts them on your behalf.

[The academy's registered legal name, address and governing jurisdiction go here before launch.]

Your account

One account per person. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself, and for what happens under your account.

A club code links you to a club, but it does not admit you — the club's patron does. Until then your membership is pending.

Playing fairly

Chess engines, second devices, and help from another person during a rated game are cheating. So is playing on someone else's account, or arranging a result in advance.

The academy may void a game, void a fixture, adjust a rating or suspend an account where fair play has broken down. An arbiter's decision on an official result stands unless the academy overturns it.

Results and ratings

An official result becomes final when an arbiter validates it. Before that it may change. Ratings follow from validated results and are recalculated when a correction is made.

Results are published, and a published result is part of the academy's record. We do not remove a result because a player is unhappy with it.

What clubs and players post

A club is responsible for what it posts — match reports, notes and photographs — including having consent for anyone recognisable in a photograph.

The academy may remove any content, without notice, that puts a child at risk, is unlawful, or misrepresents a result.

Behaviour

Harassment, abuse and threats have no place here, and are treated more seriously where a child is involved. An account may be suspended or removed for them.

Availability

The academy runs this site with care but does not guarantee that it is always available or always correct. A live score can lag the board in the hall; the validated result is the one that counts.

Changes

These terms may change. Material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect.
