Children on a public site
Most players in this academy are schoolchildren, and their results are published. This page is the exact rule that decides what a visitor can see about them.
In force since the 2026/27 season
The short version
If a player is under 18, the public sees a first name and an initial — "Brenda A." — and no photograph. A full name and a picture appear only where a parent or guardian has said so.
If we do not know a player's age, we treat them as a child. That is deliberate: the safe assumption protects a real person, and the unsafe one cannot be undone once a name is published.
The rule in full
A player's public identity is decided on the server, before any page is built. There is no setting in the website that can widen it, and no page that reassembles a shortened name from other fields.

What is public either way
Chess results are the point of the academy, so they are published for every player regardless of consent: a rating, a club, a board number, and the results of official games. None of that identifies a child to a stranger, and all of it is what makes a season into a record a player can carry.
What is never public: a date of birth, an address, a phone number, an email address, a guardian's details, or anything a player writes in a private message.
Photographs
Match-day photographs are published by the club, not by individual players, and a club is asked to check consent for everyone recognisable in a picture before posting it. A photograph that includes a child whose guardian has not consented should not be posted, and will be removed on request without argument.
How a guardian changes it
A parent or guardian can grant consent, narrow it, or withdraw it at any time, through the club's patron or by writing to the academy. Withdrawing consent takes effect on the public site as soon as it is recorded, and returns the player to the shortened form automatically — there is no separate step that someone could forget.
Consent to publish a full name can only be given by a guardian. It cannot be given by the player, and it cannot be assumed from silence.
Asking for something to be removed
Write to the academy through your club's patron, or use the contact route on this site, and say what you want taken down. A request about a child is treated as urgent. You do not need to give a reason.
